Welcome to the 2017 Spring Registration with Southwest Portland Little League.
Registration for the 2017 baseball and softball season is now open and runs until 11:59 p.m. on March 5, 2017 for Majors and AAA, March 17, 2017 for AA, A and tee ball. After those dates pass, you must contact the Player Agent for the corresponding sport and level of play to find a spot in this season. Also, please note that late-adds are dependent on roster space and are not guaranteed.
Please note that for BASEBALL players born on or after May 1, 2005, the age cutoff date is August 31. This has been adopted by Little League International nationwide. This means that players born May 1, 2005 to August 31, 2006 are all 11 years old for Little League purposes. Players born September 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007 are age 10, and so on. Players born before May 1, 2005 still use the April 30 cutoff date, so anyone born May 1, 2004 to April 30, 2005 can play baseball as a 12-year old. The SOFTBALL and TEEBALL age determination date of December 31, 2017 remains unchanged.
Practices may start as early as mid-March for older levels. The regular season will start the first week of April and run through the first week of June, except that the season for tee ball will start later, probably around April 15. Postseason play opportunities (usually age 9 or older) extend into July or early August.

REGISTRATION FEES AND NEW VOLUNTEER FEE
Little League relies on volunteer support to coach, mentor, and provide a rewarding experience for players. For 2017, in an effort to bolster volunteer support while attempting to keep regular registration fees flat, SWPLL will be implementing a volunteer fee. Families who volunteer as board members, managers, coaches, or Alpenrose volunteers can opt-out of the volunteer fee. Player registration fees will remain unchanged from last year.
Nobody is turned away due to an inability to afford registration fees. Both full and partial scholarships are available. If you are interested, please e-mail Mel Bessner at email@example.com.
In the event that you register a child and then decide that he/she cannot participate, you must inform the league PRIOR to being placed on a team. Once your child has been named to a team, all fees are non-refundable. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Board. To request a refund, contact Lisa Keeling.
If you are registering more than one player in your family this season, you will receive a multi-child discount. The 2nd (less expensive) player will receive a 15% discount. The third is a 20% discount, fourth is 25%. In order for this registration system to recognize that your family is registering multiple players, please register all of your players at once. On the Summary Page there is a link near the bottom to "Register Another Player" - please click on this link to ensure that all of your family's players are registered within the same session. MULTI-PLAYER DISCOUNTS ONLY APPLY TO REGISTRATION FEES, NOT THE VOLUNTEER OPT-OUT FEES.
Any child who either: (a) resides within the league boundaries, or (b) attends school within the league boundaries, may register to play with SWPLL. You can find the league's boundaries here. If your child does not live within the league boundaries but attends a school within the boundaries, you will need to complete and submit the "School Enrollment Form" found at the Registration tab.
